DESCRIPTION: The purpose of the Board is to assure the
availability of high-quality occupational therapy services to persons in need
through the regulation of those offering themselves as occupational therapists
or occupational therapy assistants.
The public board member
serves as a key contributor to the Board’s governance, integrity, ethics, and
oversight of occupational therapy practitioners, as well as the field of
practice in this state. This role is an important addition to the Board and
ensures that the concerns and interests of those in which we are entrusted to
serve are heard in collaboration with other healthcare services, providers, and
professionals.
SEAT RESTRICTIONS: Each member of the board shall be a citizen of
this state.
The member shall be a
member of another health profession or a member of the public with an interest
in the rights or the concerns of health services.
This member CANNOT be
an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) or an Occupational Therapist (OT) with
whom currently or previously has been issued licensure to practice occupational
therapy in this state or another state, by this board nor any other state board
of occupational therapy.
The
occupational therapy board members shall be appointed by the Governor from a
list submitted by the Alabama Occupational Therapy Association.

nominations for the following board member seat.

member fulfilled the maximum number of consecutive appointments authorized pursuant
to §34-39-6 of the Alabama State Occupational Therapy Practice Act)
